Yet another group photo from 1961 at The Priory on a special occasion. Who are the visitors?

(source: The Pelican, Summer 1961 - lent by Mike Byrne)

Never mind the quality - feel the occasion
(then let me know what you can remember, please)

Maurice Billingsley (Nov 2007) thinks that it's Bishop Holland, auxiliary in Portsmouth to John Henry King,
sitting between Fr Patrick Fitzgerald and Fr Bernard Duffy.

Our grateful Thanks to John Mattock for the following photos and memorabilia.
John originally came from Coventry and still does.
He was at The Priory in 1962 (other details to follow).

John Mattock's 'passport'
as one of The Little Singers of the Celtic Cross
who went to Rome in 1960. The trip was recorded in
The Pelican, Summer 1961
by
Paul Maggiore, Ian Netton and David Walker — and is reproduced
on Page 2 of the Histories section.

Were these The Little Singers of the Celtic Cross 1960 ?

— issued as a Christmas card in 1960.

John is not sure about this.
(L-R) :
can you help with some names please?

The Melrose House outing, St Columba's 1961 or 1962.

Names suggested by Maurice Billingsley (Nov 2007) (L-R) :

" FRONT : Simon Blandford ; to our left behind him, Bart Glover ;
to our right, Thomas (Tam) McKeith.
Towering over Fr Tom Stoker I think was
Tommy Horne . . . let who will contradict me.
Fr Stoker was the Superior at the time. "

13 pages of prayers for the young seminarian.
I would have reproduced the contents of this slim-but-liturgid volume
but some references are rather non-pc since the revolution
.
Have you still got yours ?!

POSTCARDS FROM A DISTANT TIME

(source: John Mattock)

A drawing of the Chapel at St Columba's
by "M. Theresa Flynn, D.A. Edinburgh"

Who was this lady ?

Pat McHale kindly wrote the folowing in reply:

"If I'm not mistaken the artist lady Mrs Flynn was an
art teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas in Edinburgh.
A friend of Father T O'D — she gave us some
lessons on the occasional Saturday morning 1960.
She also did the murals at Sancta Maria Abbey Nunraw East Lothian, I think".

Ian Scott says (February 2010):
"These drawings were published as a pack of 6 and sold for 1/6."
