" As Secretary of the Missionary Institute London, Gerry Rathe was hugely
responsible for setting it up and making it work – along with great men
such as Wilfrid Gandy CSSp, Hans Van den Bosch MAfr, Adrian Edwards SVD.

The last-named composed the first dictionary in the Tiv language
and was reading Teach Yourself Irish during a MIL Academic Committee meeting in 1967;
he was reputed to be the only priest able to celebrate the Eucharist in Manx. "

Maurice Billingsley writes : Con O'Sullivan was at Blacklion, 67-9, but
on promotion; he took me and others to Dublin to get costumes for
"Man for All Seasons" (qv). I got cloth for this at discount from Gordon Wilson,
draper in Enniskillen, later bereaved in the Remembrance Day bomb;
a practical ecumenist even then, a saintly man.
