Mike Mearns discovered these 6 photos and 'liberated them from the mould in the family archives'. They measure about 2" x 1" and were proably taken on a Brownie Box camera. Hopefully, this display will prove to you that hower old or small, photos like these make fascinating additions to our GALLERY.

So if you, too, have been holding back with your old photos, DON'T!

The Chapel at St Columba's.

Mike writes:
"This photo must have been taken before September 1953
because the statues of the Ugandan martyrs — Charles Lwanga and
Joseph Mukasa — are not yet installed on plinths, on either side of the
brick arch. The statues were placed there in my first term (September 1953)."

25th January 1938

Owen writes (December 2011): "This is Fr. Dan Sherry WF, in what was,
I believe, the student uniform in the 1930's when St. Columba's was opened
in St. Boswell's. That is what I was told about it by my uncle, Owen Bonner,
whose name is on the website listings for St. Columba's in 1936-39, the same
time as Fr. Sherry was there. How would you have liked to have worn that ?"
