If you were at St Columba's in 1949 you will have met the young John Morton.
He was born in Heston, Middlesex, and therefore attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, run by the White Fathers.

Heston was a stopping-off point for many a WF luminary, as well as a base for
priests who were undergoing further academic training at London University and elsewhere. John therefore knew many of 'the greats' before going up to St Columba's. One of these was Fr Francis Walsh (later, Bishop Walsh of Aberdeen).

Later on, John's family moved to yet another parish run by the WFs — Sutton Coldfield — where he met and later married Margaret, Mike Bolan's sister.

John has kindly lent me the following photos, along with a collection of "Wopsy" books and others — all in superb condition. These will gradually surface on the site during the next few months.

THANK YOU
John for this third important contribution.

The late Mike Bolan (known as "Ebby")

As mentioned above, John married Ebby's sister Margaret,
whom he met at the Sutton Coldfield parish run by the WFs.

Ebby was a talented painter.
Have you seen his paintings that are
displayed on Pages 96 - 97 & Pages 127 - 129 of this GALLERY section ?
