The Priory 1955, Brother Modeste
Michael Goodstadt recalls : " Twice a day, from 1955 until the day
he died in 1966, I re-stocked brother Modeste's coal scuttle for the
stove that he had in his room."

(But he never did find Brother Modeste's secret recipe for beer made purely from water)

Was this at Galley Down ? Was it "Philosopher's week ?

Nick Muller was extremely strong. I could hardly lift those bales
but Nick and the rest of the world just seemed to throw them about.

The Priory 1956 (?)
A performance of the pantomime in the recreation hall for the visit of the
Superior General. Graham Hoxley was Mother Something or Other,
thinks Michael Widow Twankee, perhaps ?

Does anybody remember this pantomime ? Was this the one which
featured the song "Abdul the Bubul The Mayor
and that awful joke about "What goes up when the rain comes down?"
(The price of umbrellas, in case you've forgotten . . . )

Fr Alan Thompson worked really hard at these
events, which we all enjoyed tremendously.
